ADJECTIVE: the term used to describe an individual who has behaved in a manner that has fallen well short of vocational and/or social protocol. Also more popularly abbreviated as "UTB".

Antonym: over the top ("OTT").
Example: "You're wearing dirty jeans and sneakers at work? Seriously man... that's a bit under the bottom."

You may have either "reached" sock bottom, "be at" sock bottom, or (more commonly) "hit" sock bottom.
