This can both be used to compare directly to the ideal state you're intending to reach or compare against within a challenge, or can be used to compare against a previous state you held when striving against the same challenge in question.

pulling a Cartman

A fat slob who is offensive, really funny and sadly trapped in the closet. He pretends to be into chicks but he would rather be a complete knob gobblin. In other words he is a real life adult version of the South Park character, Eric Cartman.
Our friend Scott is so funny and a slob like Belushi from Animal House. It is a shame that he would rather hide who he is and not come out of the closet. He is totally 'pulling a Cartman'.

pulling up the curtain

The act of rolling up one's upper lip, as though it were a curtain, to expose the teeth (often in the fashion of imitating a beaver). Pulling the curtain originated in the Appalachians and is frequently utilized in comedic Vine parodies. Pulling up the curtain can be used to express overwhelming joy, frustration, anger, or a natural response to hearing a banjo.
When Seth told Jennifer they were going on a road trip to the Smokey Mountains, she immediately was overwhelmed with joy and was "pulling up the curtain".
