A loose term in this generation. Based on origins of the word, it should be used to identify an awkward or outstanding individual with high intelligence to a point where he/she seems strange and is looked at as an outcast. Nerds are often enticed by hobbies and activities that fit their intellectuality. By today's standards, a nerd typically classifies any imbecile who can figure out how to snap a photo of themselves and post it to a domain like Instagram with tags such as "#NERD." These "nerds" either try to make themselves look silly or more intelligent, neither of which are very effective to anyone with an actual high IQ. Because of this sort of craze, many aspects of what can be referred to as "geek culture" have been ruined. Anyone who wishes to call his/herself a nerd is probably the opposite of the old definition.
I beat that Nerd Stanley with a foam finger until he did my math homework for me, I'm sure to get an A.

These glasses make me look like I'm such a Nerd! How silly!
