country music

Whether the majority of the mentally incapacitated people who have already posted a definition want to accept it or not, country is the foundation of basically every single other form of music. If somebody tells you to stop listening to country and start listening to rock instead, just remember it was country musicians who invented rock.

Not all country songs feature annoying twangy vocals, fiddles, steel guitars, redneck-y themes, or any other retarded stereotype of the genre. Not all of it's fans are white trash, conservative, over-patriotic, mid western, Bush supporters.

Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, and Clint Black, believe or not, are NOT the only acts in country and it is extremely ignorant to base your opinion of an entire music style on just four people (well, them and any of their commercially spawned craptastic wannabe sell-out clones just trying to cash in an their success in the industry).

There are MANY wonderful and talented country artists out there, they just are sometimes hard to find. Because once in a while you will actually see somebody appear in the country scene who is genuine and fresh, but when they start getting a lot of attention.... in come the clones who start producing a sad and VERY annoying barrage of shit music that clogs television and radio up so much it's almost impossible to sift through it all to find the real GOOD country music. People buy it because it's what is 'in' at the time, feeding the overrated hype even more. Eventually people wise up and get bored of all of the terrible music, another new craze comes out... the cycle continues... and the good music is sadly nowhere to be found =( And unfortunately most record labels only care about how much it sells and not about how innovative, original, and influential it is.

Which is the only reason I have started to give up on country music; slipshod imitations of the already hard to find creativity. Not because of lame and often incorrect conventional images of what people think country actually is like the rest of you dipshits.
99% of "country" you hear on the radio is a poor representation of real Country Music.

country music

(modern) a genre of music that originated in the south. This genre is very limited and not appreciated by musicians.

Instrumentation is almost the exact same throughout every band: includes - vocalist, acoustic guitars, electric guitars (and always a slide electric guitar), "fiddle," bass, and drums.

Country music appeals to people that do not attentively or actively engage in music; it is simply a background noise that drives away the silence.

Country Songs are very similar throughout various artists. They are extremely simplistic and repetitive. They are predictable and rely on short, annoying riffs to force people to “remember” and somehow “like” their song.

The musicians are very limited and rarely experiment. The definition of a solo in Country Music is usually a 5 second non-improvised fiddle melody. The guitarists thrive only on basic chords. The bassist only plays 2 or 3 notes the entire song and alternates between them on quarter notes. The drummer NEVER plays any more than 1 single rhythm throughout the entire song (usually bass drum hits on beats 1 and 3, the snare hits on 2 and 4, and an occasional crash on the cymbals).

The lyrics of country songs cover similar topics: women, divorce, drinking, breaking up, honky tonk. The lyrics are very simplistic and evoke no powerful meaning other the events of some evening after having to many beers.

Popularity is base on if:
1.) The lead singer is sexy.
2.) One of their songs mentions “honky tonk.”
3.) and oh... the lead singer is sexy.
4.) the band has produced “cool” music videos
5.) and oh... the lead singer is sexy.
6.) the name of their band, the art design and pictures inside of the CD case
7.) and oh... the lead singer is sexy.

The fan base of country music contains:
1.) Female teenagers
2.) Married women who wish they were married to Garth Brooks
3.) Men married to these women who have no other choice

All-in-all, Country Music is for the people who have no concept of musicality or musicianship, are very narrow-minded and do not see the world the way it is. It should be considered more of a form of music as entertainment rather than music as an art.
"Hey Murph, I done got me a john deere. I tell ya wha', its got one of dos fancy pants air con-ditioners in 'em. It also got one of dem radios so I can sit in here and listen to country music all day."

country music

a.) Real music that you can actually understand, performed by artists who can actually sing and play instruments (not just shout obscenities and sometimes-rhyming slang backed by a drum machine or fragments of somebody else's record played off turntables). Music that condones patriotism and traditional American/family values instead of drive-by shootings, murders, drug usage, racism (i.e. hatred of white people) and general lawlessness.
This type of music is usually enjoyed by proud, honest, hard-working people who have chosen not to be a drain on society by living on welfare and/or spending most of their adult life in prison. You'll never see it on MTV because it's not trendy, thuggish or amoral (like everything else on MTV). Generally not enjoyed by baggy-clothed, backwards ballcap wearing, bling wearing fashion slave "sheeple" posers who feel an irrepressible need to try to impress everybody by acting and talking like something they're not.

b.) The kind of music you'd like your kids to listen to, as opposed to "Yo, yo, I got crunked up on chronic and a fo'ty and did a drive-by 187 on the PO-lice, then c-walked back to the criznizzle and slapped mah beee-yatch."
Typical country music:

"My daddy served in the Army, he lost his right eye - but he flew a flag out in our yard until the day that he died. He wanted my brother, my mother, my sister and me to grow up and live happy in the land of the free."

"And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free....and I won't forget the men who died to save that right for me. And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today - for there ain't no doubt I love this land.....God Bless the U.S.A."
