Bringing up Laura Branigan

A term used when a person is so sick they are throwing up what they consumed in the 80's.

Although names of other pop stars of the era may be used to define the amount of effort involved in emesis it is worth noting that there is some debate as to whether "Bringing up Pat Benatar" implies as deep a retching as "Bringing up Laura Branigan".

"Bringing up Rick Astley" is only ever used by people who didn't actually live through the 80's and who spend their days on YouTube.

Medical note: Known to cause Boerhaave's syndrome (effort rupture of the esophagus).
80's Survivor #1: "Heard you were really sick."
80's Survivor #2: "Oh, man, I was bringing up Laura Branigan."

Brisingr

The third book in the Inheritance Cycle. The inpronouncable name means "fire", which is associated with the first spell that Eragon learns. However most readers have attributed it to the feeling of their brains being lit on fire due to the mind-boggling complexities of prose.
“Nasuada hoped he would soon recover. If he did not, she would ask Eragon or Angela, or perhaps the two of them together, to attend to Garven. Until such time as his condition improved, she decided that he should no longer serve as an active member of the Nighthawks; Jormundur would give him something simple to do, so she would not suffer guilt at causing his any further injury, and he might at least have the pleasure of enjoying whatever visions his contact with the elves had left him with.Bitter at her loss, and furious with herself, with the elves, and with Galbatorix and the Empire for making such a sacrifice necessary, she had difficulty maintaining a soft tongue and good manners.” Quote from Brisingr

Bringing a Knife to a Threesome

Pop culture euphemism for;
1. Person(s) who kills a good mood, fun killer, party pooper
2. Bringing a highly inappropriate item ill suited for the situation.

Origin:
Based on this ridiculous account;
"In Fargo, N.D., a man, 33, reportedly stabbed another man, 37, during a threesome. The stabbing allegedly occurred when one of the men reportedly refused to switch positions during the sexual romp."

The expression bounces off the old adage Bringing a knife to a gunfight.
"Ah shit, don't invite that guy! He'd bring a knife to a threesome".

"His friend was known for bringing a knife to a threesome, so he wrote a list items they would need; better safe than sorry".

"Who brings a knife to a threesome!? Seriously!"
