The act of going on Facebook 'just to check it for a few minutes' and suddenly finding that it's 3 or 4 hours later and you have no idea where your afternoon went. Commonly occurs when 'quickly checking Facebook' is used as a break in studying/tidying/other necessary but dull tasks.
Oh dear, I was only checking my wall, but now it's four hours later and I've still not started my essay... what a Facebook binge.

Their friends' news feeds end up filled with this person's constant posting, most of it extremely uninteresting.

Little or none of the studied material is retained after the regurgitation thus binge studying is effective only in short term situations such as a quiz or a test and is generally not possible to achieve for final exams.
I need to stop this habit of binge studying or else I'll be clueless on this material when it comes to the final exam.
