Although it looks like the most conservative Muslim country from outside, it is affected by American culture so much. The famous global fast food chains can be seen in all around of the country. There are lots of foreign workers here from different places of world. But especially they are from Pakistan, Indian and Philippines. They make those kinds of jobs that Saudi people do not want to do. Actually Saudi people do not want to do any job. As a result most of the jobs of country are done by foreign.
All women have to wear black dress, Muslim women also have to wear scarf besides black dress. Women cannot drive a car, it is banned. Saudi men can marry with up to 4 women. Thus, they have big family that is why they live in the big houses surrounded by walls.

They are stuck in the past in the sense that human rights are pretty much non -existent, with women forced to cover up, homosexuality and witchcraft being punishable by death, and they support regimes such as the Taliban amoung other things. The part of modernity they seem to have embraced is the damn ugly scenery, tearing down their historic architecture and replacing it with ugly strip malls and tacky Las Vegas style biggest in the world type of stuff.
Saudi Arabia is rich from stumbling apon the world's greatest oil feilds, but they are really just simple and closed minded, uneducated, lacking all style, shallow, and extreme.
