drug store

In New England the local pharmacy was called a "drug store", it probably dates back to circa 1900. In Worcester, MA circa into 1960's the word "drug store" was used more than pharmacy. At least one in every neighborhood and open on Sunday, Massachusetts state "blue laws" had all other retail business closed.

You would get a medial prescription filled at the corner "drug store" in the 1950's.

1. a store (usually at the corner of every urban city block) usually owned by a Hispanic male who goes by "Papi". If a Hispanic female is the cashier, call her "Mami". They sell chips, sandwiches, bread, $0.50 juices, etc. It's an urban 7-Eleven. It's awesome.

Male #1: I'm going to the corner store after church to get a honey-bun and a $1.00 Pepsi. Do you want anything?

Female #1: Sure; I'll have a pastrami sandwich with mustard. Tell Papi I said "thank you".

thrift store chic

When you go into a Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom or Marc Jacobs and there are $50 tank tops stretched and faded, and generally looking like they came out of a pile of salvation army clothes. you are think WTF? but other people are eagerly trying them on and buying them, even though if you were to suggest they go to an actual thrift store and get the same clothes for $1.99, they would be shocked/horrified/appalled.

That $200 faded black hoodie with the intentional silver paint splotches is so thrift store chic.

Basically an Apple Store with Microsoft products. No real creativity, even the front looks like an Apple Store!

Chinese dollar store

Business establishment, usually owned by Asian immigrants, carrying inexpensive imported merchandise.

Products carried include common household products, tools, cheap toys, discontinued junk food brands, low-budget movie DVDs and mass-produced poorly-made samurai swords sold as authentic collectibles.

I didn't know there was such a thing as bootleg Sharpies until I picked some up at the Chinese dollar store.
