The technoboy may well have a variety of gadgets and machines at his disposal, but mainly it is his knowledge of how machines function and how to fix them when they crash or go wrong that results in the use of 'technoboy'.
Female X is desperate to complete her essay but her machine keeps crashing. She calls upon techno boy to help out. Otherwise she would probably not go near him.
