Toxic Political Discourse

At term to describe the sad state of politics America in the 21st century.

With the increasing influence of talk radio and so-called new commentators, there is more vitriolic argumenting and shouting than ever. People like Sarah Palin,Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter and Mike Savage are ranting and raving like complete idiots. These people tear down and make up lies about people they disagree with rather than offer any solutions to the problems we face.

This toxic political atmosphere is making political campaigns longer, meaner, dirtier and more expensive every year.

Toxic political discourse is creating a lot of tension, flustration and violence, but few solutions. We need to tone down the hostility in Washington, on the radio and on cable TV, before we destroy ourselves.

Chihiro discourse

Chihiro is a character from the serie of games Danganronpa.
They were born male but due to bullying they decided to dress like a female.

The discourse is about people headcanoning them as trans.

A lot of people think that chihiro is just very bad and stereotypical trans rappresentation while other are fine that in the canon they where a crossdresser.
People can get very angry about this stuff so remember

Thinks that chihiro is trans do not invalidate their trauma
Thinks that chihiro is not trans it's not transphobic

Person A: "Chihiro is definitely a trans girl! They just wanted to play her dirty... "
Person B: "Not at all, HE didn't like to dress like a girl"
Me: "I hate this chihiro discourse"

Imposed Discourse

The forcible limitation of what can be said, thought, or discussed—through censorship, punishment, threat, or structural exclusion. Imposed Discourse doesn't just shape opinions; it shapes the very terms of debate, the questions that can be asked, the frameworks that can be used. Certain topics are forbidden. Certain questions cannot be raised. Certain frameworks are simply unavailable because anyone who used them would face consequences. Imposed Discourse is power drawing the boundaries of speech, then pretending those boundaries are natural.

"You can discuss labor conditions, sure. But if you mention unionizing, security escorts you out. That's Imposed Discourse: the boundaries of acceptable speech drawn by power, enforced by threat. You can say anything—as long as it's within the lines they drew when you weren't looking."

Manufactured Discourse

The subtle shaping of what can be said, thought, and discussed through control of language, media, education, and cultural production—without direct coercion. Manufactured Discourse doesn't forbid certain topics; it makes them unthinkable, unsayable, ridiculous. It floods the available channels with certain framings, certain vocabularies, certain assumptions, until alternatives seem naive, extreme, or crazy. People don't refrain from questioning because they're afraid; they refrain because the questions never occur to them, or occur framed as obviously wrong. Manufactured Discourse is power that doesn't need to censor because it's already shaped what anyone would want to say.

Hym "Saying you don't want me to be a part of the discourse is like saying you don't want me to come hunt unicorns with you. You don't actually engage in any discourse. And I bring this up because I was watching Piers the other day and he had this guy on. And Piers asked what we do about the economy and the guy's response was 'What I preach is taxing billionaires. We used to tax them more and the narrative was it was the golden age of America.' And that is what I mean. You preach the thing you preach and Gayve Jewbin doesn't even engage with it. And apparently SOMEONE DOES. And why would you not? You're getting way more out of ME than you are literally any other person on the planet by, like, several orders of magnitude. I'm like Superman squeezing a lump of coal into a diamond. I'm literally doing that while I could have been saving your kids. I could have been killing them too I guess. And the FUNNY PART... Is that you were an obstacle to the former and NOT THE LATTER! You'd think it would be the other way around! Like, the problem isn't the AI creating geniuses here and MY PROBLEM is that you are an obstacle to my rights being upheld. I'm like a Katojen over here.
