megafaunal confidence

The tendency of animals that are very large (megafauna) with few or no natural predators (such as adult grizzlies, elk, moose, etc.) to give off an aura of confidence and lack of concern for their surroundings in the presence of humans. These megafauna are majestic and either the top of the food chain and/or practically invincible and they seem to know it.

"Dude, that elk gives zero fucks that people are getting out of their cars and photographing it. It's practically posing!"
