It sounded like such a beautiful word for female genitalia, I adopted it for my Poetry project in 1995. "The Punany Poets" celebrate female sexuality and promote safer sex andsexual empowerment through erotic literature and theatrics.
The Punany Poets are featured on HBO Real Sex 24 and 26 demonstrating Punany theater. "Punany Dream" (performed in the segment) is a fantasy piece about a lonely house wife who masturbates while her hard working husband is away at work.
