SCOREBOARDED

Similar, but different, from scoreboard...

"SCOREBOARDED" denotes the essence of the bottom line, end result. Unlikes scoreboard, where the scoreboard is almost used as an excuse, scoreboarded has a meaning of accountibility, on all parts. The origin of this word comes from a combination of traditional "SCOREBOARD" shouts, but also, a touch of sportsmanship.

To be or have been "SCOREBOARDED" ultimately implies that a good competition was had, and that the user acknowledges this. One team was the victor, and the other was not, and that's that.

Caps optional, situational. Not using caps suggests a more passive, unemotional and mature manner of usage. All caps suggests the user is feeling a great deal of pride and enthusiasm in the victory, or perhaps loss if one is so inclined, yet still retains a quality of restraint because of the true definition of the word.

In the 2005 Alamo Bowl, the Michigan Wolverines were scoreboarded by the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It was a hard fought game, and both teams showed the potential to win. But when it was all said and done, one team had more points than the other, and a 32-28 victory went down in the history books.

The Scorsese Effect

Named after filmmaker Martin Scorsese, the "Scorsese Effect" is when a work of art is created to negatively portray a character or group of people, but unintentionally inspires fans to try and imitate them. Usually these people misunderstand the point of the film and think the message was to try and be like the protagonist. Many of Scorsese's movies are centered around characters like these, such as "The Wolf of Wall Street," "Taxi Driver," and "Goodfellas".

Other examples include "Fight Club," "Breaking Bad," "The Sopranos," and the Joker.

Guy 1: Doesn't Mark understand the point of Fight Club was to show what can happen when men try to compartmentalize their anger and aggression into physical violence?

Guy 2: Yeah, it's the Scorsese Effect at work.

Mark: We live in a society.

An Xbox 360 player who, due to his vane outlook concerning his gamertag, brings himself to play software not for enjoyment, but for the sole purpose of increasing gamerscore. Score whores often employ the use of unlimited rental plans and seldom buy the actual games to support the studios that develop said titles. Once a score whore achieves a desirable amount of achievements, you will never hear the end of it.

You: You're just jealous.
