Vegemite as we aussies know it as is a yeast extract spread originally used to flavour gravies and stocks as it is very salty. It is most commonly used spread thinly on bread with lots of butter.

Code word used by homosexuals for getting your ass licked. Vegemite sandwich was originally popularized by “men at work” in their 80’s song “Down under”.
