Friends who are kindred spirits, think alike, or connect on a platonic emotional basis based on their world view. The term is similar to soul mate, but refers to two people who think alike in terms of religion, politics, and other topics without being romantically involved.

Jim and Sarah saw eye to eye on just about everything, even more so than with their spouses. They were true soul buddies.
