The act of a politician receiving payment for any of the following:
1) Advancing a proposal beneficial to the person paying
2) Sending juicy stories to reporters
3) Voting or refraining from voting on a particular bill/legislation/act of Parliament (delete as appropriate)

Often, the person(s) who the phrase is directed at is unaware of the need for repayment.

Dennis & Sally: Hi Frank, congrats on buying your new condo! Can you believe it was only six months ago when you were helping us move into our own place?

Afrikaners of South Africa have a collective guilt over Apartheid. So do the Germans on the Holocaust.

friend collector

A person, who on Facebook, just makes "add friend" requests and will have over 150 "friends", but never posts updates on their page nor makes comments on other pages. They are essentially a boring ghost who bothers people with friend requests.

Marc: "Did you get a request from Julie to be a friend?"

Jenn: "I did, but I rejected her because she is just a friend collector."
