When someone is asked to freestyle, but since that someone is a talent-less hack he/she looks off their phone for lyrics they wrote down earlier. The lyrics are usually shitty and cringeworthy and the phonestyler ends up making a fool of him/herself. The act is usually performed by retards like drake who think they're rappers.

Person 1: Damn dude did you hear that drake freestyle on Youtube?
Person 2: That wasn't a freestyle nigga. He was looking off his phone, that motherfucker phonestyling.
