It’s exhausting.

Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 789! Get it? Seven ate nine!
Them: I don’t get it
Me: I shouldn’t have to Punsplain this one…
See Six was afraid of Seven because Seven had a history that included devouring Nine. Get it? Seven ATE nine!

Polisplaining

Polisplaining occurs when a politician or political commentator talks condescendingly to someone about something he / she has incomplete knowledge of, with the mistaken assumption that she / he knows more about it than the person he's talking to does.

I just spent the last hour listening to a group of talking head polisplaining an issue everyone knows they haven't seen (or don't have the clearance to see) the evidence.

Potsplain

When a pothead tries to justify their reasons for using pot by trying to convince of the benefits. Similar to mansplaining, but with weed. They will often rely on the Internet to back them up and may even offer you a pot brownie.

Luke tried to potsplain me again but I know better than to eat another space cake.

Painsplainer

Definition: someone who interrupts you to talk about your pain as if they've experienced it on a grander scale than you

"I get such bad migraines man, my head hasn't stopped throbbing for three da-"
"Oh yeah, I know all about migraines, they're so bad! Can you believe I had nausea, and like, I didn't wanna talk to anybody, and I even had to THROW UP to make it better. Anyway it's only happened to me once in my life, thank god! Have you tried to sleep it off?"

painsplaining

This is a type of ablesplaining where doctors and other healthcare workers patronize, infantilize and disregard lived experience by minimizing self-reports of pain, often justifying it through medical hearsay, misogyny, transphobia, fatphobia, and racism even though they've never experienced any similar pain themselves, or they believe everyone's pain is the same as their own.

Doctor: "It's normal to experience some discomfort…" Patient: "Quit painsplaining; that was not just discomfort. That was a 9 out of 10 — almost the worst pain I've ever felt!"
