Someone who claims to be a libertarian but believes that all manner of silly left-wing statist beliefs are an integral part of libertarianism.
Some bleeding-heart libertarian told me that "slut shaming" was the equivalent of going on a killing spree in a shopping mall and that I needed to "check my privilege."

Get the bleeding-heart libertarian mug.Neo-libertarians follow a political philosophy combining elements of libertarian and neoconservative thought that embraces incrementalism domestically, and a generally objectivist/interventionist foreign policy based on self-interest, national defense and the expansion of freedom.
Neolibertarians hold that the best form of national government is one that promotes liberty (free markets and civil liberties) and strong national defense policies, including the use of pre-emptive military engagements only if it is against a threat to freedoms and a danger to the nation. It also holds that the federal government should concern itself with these issues above all others, while leaving nearly every other issue to more local political entities: state/provincial and municipal governments, communities, and individuals. Neo-libertarians are sometimes described as "pro-capitalist conservatives" or "libertarians who support the War on Terror." Some celebrities that fit into this neo-libertarian category include talk radio personalities Larry Elder, Neal Boortz, and comedian Dennis P.J. O'Rourke.

Robby: Dude, these neo-libertarians sound like they got it right, but why isn't there anything about them on Wikipedia?
Ryan: Well, there used to be, but some ugly pacifist named Carol Moore deleted it because she doesn't believe in free speech, and thinks she's the queen of deciding what's a legit political philosophy.
Robby: Well, that totally sucks. These guys really have what the world needs.
Ryan: Well, they should start with a new name, one that roles of the tongue well.

Get the Neo-Libertarian mug.One who takes socially conservative stances but otherwise considers him or herself to be a libertarian. As in, you believe government should be small... Small enough to fit inside certain body parts...
Many right-wingers consider themselves to be libertarians, but I grow tired of their socially conservative positions on women's reproductive rights, so I started calling them "tampon libertarians".

Get the Tampon Libertarian mug.internet libertarians are usually two or more of the following: white, nerdy, male, suburban, (hostilely) atheistic, and well-off. they usually have close-knit, supportive families as well. a true internet libertarian has never lived for long periods of time in anywhere but an affluent suburb. they are naive, sheltered fucks to a tee. they also tend to be less smug and vocal about their politics IRL - they fear (more) social rejection.
internet libertarians are mostly Randites and Ron Paul Revolution groupies. you will find them preaching their Pollyanna-like views of wanton deregulation/decentralization/isolationism in any sufficiently nerdy online venue - think Slashdot, Reddit, or an imageboard with a political discussion section.
they tend to be excessively fond of dense, idiosyncratic video games like TF2 and Minecraft; channers are more likely to be internet libertarians than most other e-subcultures.

you know the asshole who sits in the back of the class, glued to his laptop? the one who smugly interrupts teacher and student alike? the youth who never lacks for anything except friends, but doesn't get along well with people different from him? yeah, that's your average internet libertarian.

Get the internet libertarian mug.A dilettante who is interested in libertarianism, but would more often than not break with the philosophy, politics, and economics of libertarianism for supposed compassionate reasoning ; that comes from an opposing camp. They're a believer in the political doctrine that is libertarianism which emphasizes individual liberty and a lack of governmental regulation, intervention, and oversight both in matters of the economy and in personal behavior where no one’s rights are being violated or threatened. Yet they are quick to cede their beliefs to appease opposing camps or to maintain supposed good optics.
This compassionate quasi-libertarian is oft associated with girouettism The practice of frequently altering one's views and opinions to follow current trends, bandwagonism The tendency to jump on the bandwagon, i.e. to join a craze or trend, sometimes for profit, or with someone who is dangerously softhearted or affrighted to argue into the weeds about into the trade offs, consequentialism, rule utilitarianism, etc.

The compassionate quasi-libertarian was scared to mention the third variable effect where this "Z" that wasn't mentioned in the study the debaters were discussing was more likely to influence "A" rather than "B" that was mentioned in the study, but the compassionate qusai-libertarian was scarred that he'd be accused of not wanting to help "A"; albeit, in his heart he believes that intervening with "B" wouldn't help "A" and if only the got around to intervening with "Z" instead of "B" than everything would be swell.

Get the Compassionate quasi-libertarian mug.A smart ass on the internet that claims the economy can work itself out on its own, as long as there is no government regulation. This belief is usually based on the ECON 101 class they took a few years back. On closer inspection, most of the internet libertarian's facts don't check out.
