pregnancy amnesia

when a woman forgets how miserable it is to be pregnant and willingly agrees to get pregnant for a second (or third +) time. It often occurs in conjunction with or immediately following the contraction of baby fever after her other children have reached toddler age.

Kerrie: Did you hear that Melissa is trying to get pregnant again?

Ashley: Yeah, she must have pregnancy amnesia.

When told to work or have to you automatically "forget".

Boss: I want this paperwork on my desk in an hour!
Worker: uh OK
Boss: Where's the paperwork?
Worker: I forgot I have a serious case of work amnesia.

Word of The Day Amnesia

Its what happens when you come to UD to search a word, but get hooked into all of the new 'word of the days' and by the time you finish reading them, you have forgotten what you were going to look up.

In more extreme cases you forget you were even going to look up a word.

1. "Damnit! I forgot what I was going to search! I'm having Word of The Day Amnesia! Hmm let me switch back to the facebook tab and see if the word is there."

2. "Those were some pretty funny 'word of the days', oh well back to youtube..."

lacunar amnesia

Partial memory loss, specifically of an isolated event.

Very conveniently (and in some cases thankfully) tends to happen to people after a night of drunken revelry.

Also a very common plot element of bad romance novels and bodice rippers.

Which is not to say that it's not used in books and movies with an actually good plot. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" comes to mind.

Walmart Amnesia

The temporary loss of memory as soon as you enter a walmart store and forget everything there was on the shopping list (even when you had meticulously made a neat mental list). Recovery occurs slowly starting exactly when you pulled out of parking all the way until you reached your home.

Irritated Wife: Did you bring all that I'd asked for?
unhappy-with-himself Husband: No, I suffered a Walmart Amnesia.
Irritated Wife: You lazy scumbag!
