ludonarrative dissonance

An unnecessarily fancy term for conflicting elements of ludology (gameplay, game design, et cetera) and narrative (story, characters, and the rules set up by the world).

Ludonarrative dissonance made the game a lot less enjoyable for me. You'd think that shooting a guy in the head would kill him instantly, but no, The Division seems completely oblivious to the fact that it's a Tom Clancy game.

Latonia

"The L.A.tonia" or "the L-A-T" to most of the skater punks and white trash/thugs that live there, Latonia is a small community bordering Covington, KY that consists of housing projects, a cemetery, a brand new Wal Mart, and not much else. It continues to decline and become more like Covington or a suburb of Cincinnati each passing year, both in populace and statistics. Anyone young who lives there knows that it's a hard place to live and an even harder place to get out of.

"This kid wanted to go to UC to get out of Latonia, but he ended up at some community college. Why? Because he's just a wanna-be from the L-A-T."
