Mardi Gras Mentality

The act of doing something completely out of the ordinary or utterly embarrassing in front of a group of strangers with the notion that you won't ever see them again anyway making it difficult for them to pass future judgement.

Also known as Burning-Man Mentality.

TJ: I can't believe Jay pissed his pants while playing the piano at the sorority house.

John: Yeah he gets a few beers in him and Mardi Gras Mentality takes over, happens all the time.

Dollar store mentality

When you believe that things that are a dollar or less should be bought in bulk because they are so cheap.

My Mom went out and bought 20 pairs of star shaped sunglasses because "someone would definitely get a dollar worth of fun out of them". She has a dollar store mentality.

My friend Paty used to say "If it's for free, it's for me....but the dollar store is good too."

Settler's Mentality

Thinking you're a nice carefree person when you're part of the problem.

Old example: Little-House-On-The-Prarie-type European settlers going west to "Put in a solid day's work and carve out a new life" while being part of the mass genocide of Indigenous Americans.

New example: People moving away from California because they "Couldn't stand it anymore" and ruining the property values and job markets of their new location while transplanting the California-style politics they claim they were getting away from.

1. "I just want to promote healthy living and calm to the people I meet on social media"
"Your lifestyle is funded by your sugar daddy using child labor at off-shore factories Caitlyn, you got a real settler's mentality"

2. Instagram models advocating for mental health while their income comes from an app destroying people's mental health is some serious settler's mentality.

3. Bro you can say you support Black Lives Matter but if you keep voting for officials who defend bad cops that's just settler's mentality
