At least when 'The Dictator' let us down, it gave us a catchy new phrase. It is used to take the place of contrasting words simultaneously, such as awesome and lame. Facial expressions and kinesics are very helpful to the one trying to decipher the use of the word.

Tommy: How was that chick's dome?

James: Dude, it was so Aladeen.

Tommy: Was it Aladeen...or Aladeen?

James: Soo Aladeen with a slow nod of approval

Alaaddin

Your friendly neighborhood black man. The guy you always run to for help and advice, the one you trust with your life just because he is willing to listen. Though, he himself is not a very revealing character, keeping his thoughts and emotions to himself, which usually lead to stress. Nevertheless, he is a great leader and motivator, because people are willing to listen to a man who is willing to listen to them. Lastly, he is the man who cares and loves you more than you could and would ever guess. So be careful the next time you talk to him about a crush, because he may get hurt and/or jealous.

PS, Alaaddin and Alaadin and Aladin and Aladdin are not the same!

I wish I could speak to Alaaddin, he'd know what to do.

Aladdin Complex

The obsession with appropriating elements from Arab and South Asian cultures, especially when one does not belong to said cultures, and using them for aesthetics.

Inspired by the 1992 Disney film Aladdin in which non Arab and non South Asian viewers are left confused about where Aladdin is actually set because white people think all brown people are the same ethnic breed and have no purpose of existence outside of fulfilling their exotic fantasies.

This fetishisation, however, is not exclusive to white people and many other PoC have fallen into it, namely East Asians.

The end result of however these cultures are abused is so bizarre and confusing it can only be described as bastardisation. What was meant to look exotic and spicy (whatever the hell that means) is now a hot mess of genie lamps and bindis.

Not the ideal melting pot.
