Shoot yourself in the foot. It is a term that means someone did something stupid that resulted in hurting himself. It comes from the Old West when people would carry guns in holsters that could accidentally discharge at the wearers feet.

You're pretending not to be watching and listening and ignoring me unless there is something to steal and calling it that so you can abdicate your culpability in what is happening to me (and other people I can assume) and those kids that got murdered.
