basically when a band takes too much input from their record label and changes their sound/style to suit the desires. pretty much is the price u pay to earn more money and fame.

When a band gets too much money and plays music for the money, not their original fans. The band usally also starts playing a different type of music such as pop to appeal to a larger audience. As a result they make more money.

Bands such as Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Simple Plan, and many more are sellouts.

"Have you heard Good Charlotte's new music?"
"Yea it sucks. There total sellouts."
