preppy girl

A classy girl who, contrary to popular belief, prefers Lilly Pulitzer to Hollister and Abercrombie. Also likes J. Crew, Polo, Vineyard Vines, LL Bean, Brooks Brothers and Vera Bradley. She has more refined tastes than tight tops and jeans from A & F. Impeccably groomed, but with natural looking makeup (i.e. Clinique), well-mannered, and upper middle class to upper class. Hair is straight, clean, and it's natural color with perhaps some highlights in the summer or lowlights in the winter. Does not succumb to trends.

Clara found Maddy's "preppy" look quite amusing. Maddy was clad in tight Abercrombie skinny jeans and an turquoise American Eagle striped polo as opposed to Clara's khaki Brooks Brothers skirt and a pink Vineyard Vines oxford. Maddy would never be a true preppy girl.

prepular

a prepular is someone that is preppy AND popular. You must be both to be a prepular. Most even play some sports. You have to have a defined group that enjoys poking fun at others because they are different. Connections are everything! if your shoes were on sale at wal-mart for 7.99, no one wants to know it! As far as your group knows...they were 40$ at A+F. they are the people you love. and also the people you LOVE to HATE.

without naming names, i would like to say a prepular is:

A girl who comes to school late with a java in her hand,, wearing big sunglasses and and something with a bird on it. Maybe even a girls polo. They have a certain spot for lunch and are very organized.

Prepping includes-

•shaving the minge
•moisturizing
•plucking ze brows!
•washing the hair

•painting the nails

In high school, preps usually:

-Are on the varsity football team, the cheerleading squad, or dance squad

-Are rich

-Wear clothes from stores such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister

-Have cellphones with ringtones

-Are the first in their class to have cars and other "adult" luxuries

-Know absolutely nothing about music outside of what is on MTV or the radio

-Know absolutely nothing about "nerd" things (anime, comic books, D&D, etc)

-Think goths are "evil Satan worshipping freaks"

-Do not play video games outside of sports/racing games and Halo/Halo 2 (males) -Do not play video games at all (females)

-Do not play musical instruments, write poetry, or have any artistic qualities of any kind

-Spend their weekends at the mall, at school sports games, or at parties, where they "get drunk off their ass"

-Are absolutely HATED by most intelligent people (including me) for their stupidity and snobbish attitude.

preppy

preppy is someone who comes from a certain amount of wealth and is raised within a certain lifestyle. Although "being preppy" is often conceived as one dressing in polos and popping the collar, there are different ways to approach the idea. First off, typically, preppies lean to the conservative side never wearing anything that would by any means be provocative or sluttly. Classy, not cheap and not thrown together. Tradition not trends. True preps don't just enter the everyday mall and buy things from the mainstream chains where the business thrives on the "hot" new fashion. Old, well respected establishments is the way of life. Education is pivotal, although one does not have to attend a New England prep school to reach said status. There are exclusive suburban public high schools who are a breeding ground to the preppy lifestyle. Ergo,preps are not limited to the New England and even the Southern areas, the North Shore in Illinois is a good example of true preps outside the stereotypical locations. Some may say that preps are ALWAYS snots, but that is not ALWAYS true. Yes, some are type A snots and probably should be smacked, but some are actually caring, nice people. It's not like they are this superior race, they are like any other demographic, consisting of the brats and the down to earth. Being preppy isn't just dressing in pastels and popping the collar it's a way one lives day to day. It's a mindset, and the look a prep has is just a supplement to the pattern of life.

preppy is more than fashion, it's tradition and excellence and respectfulness and a way of life.
