Liar Liar 

A name given to somebody partaking in the act of lying.

A consequence of becoming a, "liar, liar," is finding your pants spontaneously combusting into flames.

Lando: "Yo, I'm not a Judas."

Pete: "Liar Liar, Pants on fire."

Lando: "Ah, good point my good sir, could you please extinguish my trousers?"

Pete: "No...you bloody traitor."

A Christian who ignores the Commandment against lying when they believe that it will benefit Christ, God, Christianity, or convert a non-Christian to Christianity, or one not of their particular sect to their sect.

Being from newfoundland, we have a strong British heritage. I always understood it to be a reference to witches burning at the stake. Your pants or skirts would be the first thing to catch fire.

Liar and a cheat 

The opposite of Gentleman and a scholar. That is, a joking diss. Often used to refute the claim that someone is a Gentleman and a scholar or vice versa.

Jack: I can't believe you did that, that's low...
Bob: What ever do you mean? I'm a gentleman and a scholar!
Jack: You sir, are nothing more than a Liar and a cheat.

Liar’s Bench 

A bench where a group of men would gather to tell tales, some believable, some not so believable. An area around a stove in a shelter during cold seasons where men would gather to tell stories about fishing, hunting, government, etc.

Some women considered the Liar’s Bench to be a bad influence area for the younger generation of boys.

The Liar’s Bench is full of old cronies today.
