Port scan

Using software to scan any of the 65536 ports on a computer. This may be done for technical reasons by a network administrator or for nefarious reasons by a computer cracker.

Ned carried out a full Port scan while checking the firewalls integrety.

ct scan of the head, facial bones, cervical spine, chest, abdomen and pelvis, originally used for patients with severe trauma but now used to prove those body parts exist.

Triage nurse: He broke his ankle/got punched in the nose/ was found on the floor next to his bed/ is demented. Pan scan.
ER resident: He looks ok, but he broke a bone. Pan scan.
Radiology attending: He's got an effing nasal bone fracture. What are they looking for? Why the pan scan.
Radiology resident: I don't know. I didn't ask.
