slashddos

The temporary denial-of-service effect resulting from a website being linked to from a story on the front page of the Slashdot (www.slashdot.org) tech news website.

The phenomenon mostly affects websites on lower-capacity servers. They can run for years with low-medium traffic, but with the huge tsunami of requests that come from being linked on Slashdot, such websites can be effectively paralysed for half a day or more.

"Dammit, I can't reach Pranknet."
"Try again tomorrow, dude, the site got slashddos'ed an hour ago."

Splash N' Dash

The act of using mouth rinse when running late instead of brushing, normally on your way out of the house, often just spitting the rinse into a potted plant or outside in the grass while entering your car.

Guy1: "Forgot to brush! My mouth feels like I've been licking Amy Winehouse."

Guy2: "Dude you're lucky you have a hotel size Scope in your hand."

Guy1: "I know right? Splash N' Dash. Cheers. "

Splash the Zeros

Put them in the drink..., Shoot them out of the sky..., Give them a Mitsubishi Migraine that they'll soon forget. These are all terms heard during the South Pacific Theater in WWII. In this case, each one called for the downing of Japanese Zero Fighter Planes. "Splash the Zeros" was the phrase used in the movie, "The Final Countdown."

This "Splash" phrase and "These pretzels are making me thirsty" are opposite in meaning, but same of outcome for the intended purpose. See 'These pretzels are... in This Urban Dictionary' To splash the Zeros' is a privilege for the Urban Dictionary Editor who lives for the rejecting of idiotic and arcane stupidness reflected in most suggested definitions.
