A phenomenon—especially common in the modern era of densely-referential comedy—wherein a person refers to a quote or device in a piece of art or entertainment, unaware of the source material or even the fact that the current piece is, itself, referring to something else.

In Hebrew orthography the rafe, or more commonly spelt raphe, is a diacritic, a subtle horizontal overbar placed above certain letters to indicate that they are to be pronounced as fricatives.

Raference is when one references a most rafist of rafes.
