Sam: Dude! I just saw Johnny go upstairs with that cute blonde!
Brian: Wow! He's rigging!
Remotely controlling some kind of drone or electronic device. This term is extensively used in the cyberpunk videogame "Shadowrun Returns"
"You could choose a decker to hack in matrix systems, but rigging firing drones is much nicer and riggers come equipped with some other bad-ass drek, pal"
It is difficult to give a specific definition, however the examples will illustrate the words ‘definition’.
The word is meant to be taken lightheartedly (context depending).
For example if I had just smoked a joint and walk into a room full of people and I feel like everyone is looking at me, I would say ‘I’m rigging out’
Or a similar example would be if there a member of the public on the bus eating beans out of a can with their hands, I would think to myself ‘that is a rig fest (festival) over there’ , or ‘that is a riggy thing to see’.
The gentleman I just had a passive conversation with (who spoke about deeply personal things without the conversation being led there) was, ‘a rig man’.
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
According to the boffins downstairs, the murdererused a serrated blade.
