Unofficial medical acronym for a person who is about to die. The acronym stands for "Circling The Drain". Using this acronym on a medical report, under certain circumstances, can get one fired instantaneously. (There is an official use for "CTD": it really stands for "Carpal Tunnel Decompression".)
Ms. Kendricks, you're fired! You're the one who wrote "CTD" on the coroner's report!

Derogatory word for an immature fan of science fiction, or sci-fi. A science fiction fan who doesn't have a realistic attitude toward the genre, but thinks that science fiction is the be-all ad end-all of his/her life.
Look at that skiffy over there with the Spock ears. Let's hit him with the Shrek slime!

Sciatica Row

The lowest two drawers of an office file cabinet. Pronounced "sigh-AT-ih-kah..."; comes from the fact that the constant bending to file or pull items is likely to induce an attack of sciatica.
Oh, G-d, look at all the cases I have to file, and they're all T's, U's, V's and W's, in Sciatica Row!

forty-five it

To angle oneself (does not necessarily have to be a forty-five degree angle) into an uncrowded area outside or inside a train or bus to gain an advantage in finding a good place to sit or stand.
Looks like I'm going to have to forty-five it before that bratty kid gets missile lock on my seat!

This folk dance from the Pontic Greeks takes credit for being The Most Difficult Greek Dance In the World! Pontos is a region in the extreme northeastern part of Turkey, on the border with Adjaria in the Georgian Republic. Pontic dances are usually characterized by a very martial feeling and trembling movements in the hands, shoulders, and the upper part of the torso, and small, close-to-the-ground movements of the feet. The music for most Pontic Greek dances is usually played on a small, bottle-shaped fiddle called "lyra" or "kementze", or on a small bagpipe called "tulum", with or without "daouli" (hand drum) accompaniment. Most Pontic Greeks have settled in Greek Macedonia, due to oppression by Turks during the rule of the Ottoman Empire.
The dancers at the Greek American Folklore Society in New York are practicing Trygona and Serra.

dippity doo-dah

Serendipity; a pleasant occurrence of chance.
I just lost my glasses this morning, but lo and behold, it was by 'ole dippity doo-dah that I managed to find a pair of glasses that I can see out of even better than the ones I lost!

Onomatopoetic word describing the sound of a zit being squeezed and the pus flying onto a mirror. Be careful when saying this word around people who speak Chinese, because this word sounds like "cao", which is the f-bomb in that language.
I just squeezed a zit and tsow! All the pus went flying all over the mirror!
