Cancel Culture

Cancel Culture is an internet phenomenon that has emerged due to the internet's highly dogmatic hivemind mentality, where the opinions and attitudes of the public are harmonized into one giant unanimous blob. The said blob will spontaneously accuse and reprimand anyone who rubs them the wrong way, regardless of the individual's true intention. Often, these indicted individuals aren't even aware that what they said could be viewed in a different light, it's only the people that make it seem that way.

For example, take someone who asked "can marijuana make someone as intoxicated as alcohol" on Reddit. The guy who asked it was simply bored, but the people of Reddit took offense, ambiguously assumed that they're asking to take advantage of girls, and begin exposing all their previous posts to further prove the hivemind's unfounded belief. This right here is Cancel Culture in a nutshell.

Though it's easy to single out the "social justice warriors", do not be mistaken. In reality, anyone can co-opt a cancel culture as long as they share the same dogmatic and hypersensitive attitudes of the majority. In fact, the victims of cancel culture could be anyone who has disobeyed a rule or a policy of a group/affiliation/institution.

Essentially, the gist of cancel culture is about the public (and the individuals representing the public) either making accusations about something/someone they absolutely know nothing about, or overinflating a minor and irrelevant issue.
Example 1: People bashing PewDiePie for using the n-word and making satirical jokes about Nazism are proponents of cancel culture.

Example 2: Disney firing James Gunn for his 'offensive' tweets can be attributed to cancel culture.

Example 3: Diana was kicked out of a group chat on Kik because she didn't follow one of their group rules. She wanted to re-establish bona fide connections with one of the group members (Mikayla), but she rejected her and rebuked her just because she broke one of the group rules. Mikayla has just co-opted cancel culture as there was no legitimate reason not to befriend her.

Example 4: Jason sought help on r/FamilyAdvice because his abusive father kept beating his mother and threatening her and Jason. He admitted that he finally had enough and stood up for his mother by throwing a saucepan at his father. As a result of cancel culture, the people of Reddit decided on a whim that—despite the wickedness of his abusive father—Jason was the one that deserved all the blame because he hit him with a saucepan. This is because public opinion on Reddit upholds the traditional belief to always honor your parents no matter what. Thus, because of cancel culture, the true severity of Jason's situation was never taken into light, and his post (and other comments supporting him) were unfortunately downvoted to oblivion.

Dark Mode

An increasingly popular feature in software and websites that makes the background dark or black, which is easy on the eyes when browsing at night. It is particularly effective with AMOLED displays (as opposed to LCD) as the pixels emit little to no light.

Once you discover dark mode, there's no returning back to light mode. As a night owl, it is seriously such an essential feature I cannot live without. How nobody thought to implement dark mode back in the 2000s is beyond me.

For PC/Mac users: To enable dark mode on every website, install the chrome extension 'Dark Reader'.
For Rooted Android users: To enable dark mode on almost every app, download 'Swift Installer'.

You're welcome :)
"Man.... I just wrote an entire 10 page essay last night"
"So?"
"Without using dark mode in Word"
"Oh shit my condolences."

Antifragility

What Farid said below. I would assume le sserafim has read Nassim Taleb, because that is where this term originated from.

The concept of antifragility uses examples from science and mathematics to argue that some systems are strengthened by encounters with disorder. It is an interesting concept that basically says you can thrive in a system of disorder, randomness, or stress. Antifragility goes beyond mere resilience (the ability to bounce back from adversity) in that it embraces and gains from uncertainty. Decentralization, diversity, experimentation and innovation are characteristics of antifragile systems as they allow continuous improvement and new learning from disruptions.

Say you got laid off. You could view that as a chance to not only bounce back (find a new job), but also as a chance to expose yourself to better job or career opportunities, as well as anything that could improve your wellbeing. Basically, it's the "improvise, adapt, overcome" meme.

The hacker group Anonymous is also an incredibly good example of antifragility. No matter how hard governments and law enforcers try to destroy the organization, it will never cease to die due to how it's structured.
While most portfolios crumbled during the stock market crash, Dave's grew in value thanks to its antifragility. By diversifying across asset classes instead of focusing on any one sector, his portfolio benefited from the volatility instead of breaking under the pressure.

Involuntary Abstinence

When someone (typically a college student) has a fanciful desire to consume alcohol with some fellow mates and get crazy intoxicated, but doesn't have anyone to do so with (due to no close friends or social groups). They are most likely still an alcohol virgin because of this.
High school friend: Hey bud haven't seen you in a long time! How ya been?

Me: Pretty good, university life has been pretty awesome and wild here. Exams are coming soon though so it's getting pretty stressful

High school friend: That's nice! Nothing like a few shots of tequila to help alleviate all that stress

Me: Oh I don't drink alcohol

High school friend: Oh why not? Are you practicing abstinence?!

Me: Bruh of course not, it's just that I have involuntary abstinence...

High school friend: Ah, I understand.

horngry

When your body suddenly decides that you're horny and it makes you really angery. The anger is due to your mind not agreeing with your body.
I was just having a normal day until my body suddenly decides to have a boner. Now I am filled with the desire to open 30 tabs of porn, yet at the same time I really don't want to. I guess you could say that I'm horngry.

Intimate Partner Violence

Something that only animals engage in. If you engage in Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), you are considered an animal. And that's not a compliment.
Me, to my bro: Did you just commit Intimate Partner Violence?

Bro: Yeah lol

Me: You fucking animal.
