The United States' largest chain of truck stops.

When I was at Waffle House, I listened to a pair of truckers talk about alligators on the road. It took some time for me to realize that these "alligators" were actually large pieces of tire.

Smog

Visible air pollution often seen hovering around big cities (Los Angeles). The word 'smog' comes from the combination of the words 'smoke' and 'fog'.

There were times when a face mask was required to walk safely around Toronto because of SARS; Los Angeles is still like that because of SMOG.

Shady, untrustworthy. Shady characters are often two-timers.

There are some shifty fellows in those big cities up north.

Single-Handedly

All alone; without any assistance.

Saying that one could beat an opponent single-handedly is not the same thing as saying that he/she could do it 'with one hand tied behind his/her back'. That saying means that the upcoming fight or task will be very easy.

Sal (a guy) carried everyone's bags up the hill single-handedly.

To brag. Gloating usually involves bringing up someone else's failures, not just the gloater's successes.

He was gloating about his third-place finish compared to my twenty-seventh.

Heighth

Instead of saying 'height', a few people use this 'word'.

Firpo: What is the heighth of this building? It's gotta be close to the record.

Morris: I don't think that I'd be going out on a limb by saying that 'heighth' isn't in any dictionaries.
