The name is a portmanteau of the Haitian Kompa , AftoBeat at and Zouk
music originating from
French-Creole and Crenglish speaking countries of the Caribbean, the Antilles such as Haiti, Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe as well as
Canada, France and some cities in North and South America (especially New York City and Miami) It is also found in Western & Central Africa ,such as Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire , Cape Verde.
KompAfro-Soul is played in nightclubs from mainly the French-Creole speaking countries of the Caribbean.
