Veel

First used amoung Blue Traveler road crew, now commonly understood in the Jam Band scene.

As a noun: A person who shows up extremely late. A person, who doesn't keep a committment, usually because they are too drunk or stoned or has found something better to do, usually with someone who is more prestigious or closer to the "beautiful people". A worthless, untrust worthy person. A fake friend. A sycophant. As in the word "reveal".

A person, usually a trust-fund kid, in a band or celebrity inner-circle that has no talent or acomplished skill or serves no function for that band other than to be associated with it and bases their self-worth on that friendship.

As a verb: To blow somebody off for something better that comes up such as drugs or the chance to be with more "beautiful people". To space out on something you've given your word about. To be too high to keep a promise. To be irresponsible.

Since we knew that Ween was in town, we took bets on whether or not he would veel our party.

I had to veel the party, AJ, whose band was reviewed in Relix this month, stopped by with a big bag of coke.

Veela 

1) A gorgeous yet bitchy creature that has the power to seduce any man, but will throw balls of fire at you if you piss one off. Mentioned in Harry Potter.

2)The Veela is also a very close relative of humans, but with interesting powers. Veelas are universally female, exceptionally beautiful, and can exert a strong grip over human males with their brand of sensual dancing. Any males watching will instantly be overcome with a desire to watch them and impress them with some great heroic feat. Even when they are not dancing, the Veela carries a certain aura which is deeply inspiring to men. The effect seems to wear off a little with age, as Arthur Weasley was able to resist the charm of the Veelas’ dance at the Quidditch World Cup, whereas Harry and Ron were about to leap on them.

This is a typical way of congratulating someone in the Afrikaans language. It means literally "much luck". You can also use it in the full sentense by adding the specific reason for the congratulations at the end (see example).

"veels geluk met jou verjaarsdag" (congratulations on your birthday)

Veela 

(Noun, both singular and plural.) A veela is a mythological creature from Slavic origin, also sometimes written as Vila. They're very similar to Sirens. A Veela is a very attractive female creature, often depicted with long, silvery hair, who is able to enchant anyone who feels attracted to girls, with her striking beauty, angelic singing voice and elegant moves. Most sources describe her as a water creature

When a Veela gets angry, she transforms into an ugly monster-like mix between a bird and a humanoid. She grows a sharp bird beak and monstrous wings, and will throw fireballs.

Most sources say Veela were always female, although there are some sources that say male Veela did exist, but had less powerful enchanting powers. Some sources say Veela are born from souls of women with great heartbreak.

Veela make an appearance in Harry Potter, in which they are land creatures. Fleur Delacourt was half-Veela.

The sailors felt so enchanted by the beautiful, mesmerising singing coming from the ocean, that they completely ignored their captain's orders and steered the ship right into the Veela's trap.

Veela 

The word Veela originates from the Harry Potter series.
A veela is a girl that you cannot get out of your mind, or a girl that you have obsessed over for a long period of time. A great majority of the time they are completely out of reach from you, but no matter what they do (even the most innocent acts) can make you crave them.

Even though she got married 4 years ago, I'd ruin that marriage! She's definitely my veela.
