The act of looking at the bottom of your footwear to examine it for dog feces, gum or other sticky garbage.

After walking through the park where people often walk their dogs, I felt the need to do some sole searching.

sole-searching 

Refers to where a cute chick playfully buries her cute feet in da sand in a giggling "playing hard to get" gesture, and so you hafta "go treasure-hunting" --- i.e., seekingly burrowing in said pulverized-rock medium --- in order to find her lovely warm lower extremities so dat you can savoringly cradle and massage them.

Tiffany always makes me do some major "sole-searching" whenever I wanna rub her feet, but this only makes my eventual success at gaining access to said precious shapely velvety tootsies seem all da sweeter.
