Jim Jones seemed
like a wonderful humanitarian looking to spread
hope and egalitarian values
like wildfire to the world when viewed through rose colored glasses, since you could ignore any of the things about someone that you didn't want to see, and deny any negative feelings you had about him the same way he would deny any negative feelings he had about anybody else. A guy that kills over 900
people is not without negative feelings, and is not a boundless optimist if you look at the whole person, and not just the positive things that look/sound nice. A guy like that seems
like the real cynic, even if he's not outwardly a negative grouch.
