Post-Hiatus BFDIA Community

Share definition Flag
As someone who's in this for a decent time now, this community has devolved from being kind and effortful to being targeted by the slow corruption: characters will magically become unlikable just so that JnJ's air-quote deity, Pin, can actually get an advantage!

On the subreddit, say anything bad about our deity (Pin)? Get the whole army of her glazers mocking and harassing you in the comments!

This show has lost all of it's original charm: flanderization, vote rigging (making characters act like dipshits just to get them out, as they're in said deity's way or JnJ just hates them inside), and a community slightly less toxic than Twitter's makes 2024 BFDIA kinda suck...
Based off of a true story
Goofy example of how toxic the community is sometimes:

1) Some poor redditor: Makes Pin get an F on their tier list
Pin, the air-quote "deity": nuh uh
*Summons her whole fanbase to harass him in the comments section*

Me: Are they intentionally making her go through this just to get random characters out? That's just the Post-Hiatus BFDIA Community, I guess.

Post-Hiatus BFDIA

Share definition Flag
An ongoing era of the popular web series *”Battle for Dream Island Again.”* As of Christmas of 2024, this period spans from “Welcome Back” - “Respect to the Wicked.”

However, the series is well-known for rigging the votes, mainly in the style of “___ harms Pin,” which has lead to opposers calling most Pin likers “pity voters.” Despite the votes system being corrupt, you may still wanna check it out, as long as you mind the pestilence of vote rigging.
“Well, why after 10 years did they release Welcome Back?”

“That’s just post-hiatus BFDIA. It lost all of its charm from a decade ago though as it continued. Sorta got ruined at BFDIA 14.”

Striver

Share definition Flag
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.

Successful strivers:
- Barack Obama
- Harold Koh
