Pastel Goth

A fashion sub-culture (originated on tumblr) that is heavily inspired by Japanese "kawaii" street fashion mixed with elements of goth and grunge fashion. Usually worn with pastel, dark, occult, scary, and cutesy accessories and hair colors/wigs. Vintage elements are also welcome.

Commonly misinterpreted as a part of goth (it is a subset of goth) fashion and wrongly accused of being a poser fashion. Pastel goth is strictly a fashion asthetic, not an identity (no intention of involvement in gothic or grunge culture or music) nor do pastel goths/nu goths identify as goth, pastel goth, grunge, etc.

Pastel goth is also synonymous with creepy cute, pastel goth lolita, and nu goth.
I love how she coordinates her ripped black sweater and pastel purple skirt with hair bows and a studded choker, so pastel goth.

Pastel Goth

Pastel goth (might include soft grunge or nu goth), is a new trend where usually girls (on Tumblr) will dye their hair pastel colors, wear hipster/vintage-looking clothing that vaguely) promotes goth images, and blend cutesy images/colors with skulls, inverted crosses, etc. They try to justify their look as gothic with a pastel color palette although it is more reminiscent of a lighter emo/scene look. Often looked down upon by many goths as posers (most pastel goths don't actually listen to goth music or enjoy its true elements). Also disliked by Nirvana fans because of their loose use of the term grunge to describe themselves.
Girl A: Dude, check out those cute faded lilac short shorts! Soo cute.
Pastel Goth: Yea totally! They'll go great with my Actual Pain sweater!

Stealthie

when you're holding up your phone and making faces at it, as though you are taking a selfie, but you're really taking a picture of the person across from you or the wall or anything else that seems interesting but you don't want to be caught dead taking a picture of.

This action is often made more convincing by wiggling the eyebrows or opening the mouth, to pretend you're trying to get a Snapchat filter to work.
FRIEND A: "Did you just take a stealthie of me?"

FRIEND B (turning phone around): "no I was just using snapchat's new filter, see?"

The grindset is a contemporary ideology of self-exploitation disguised as strength, deeply tied to the aesthetics of the “sigma male” and to new digital forms of patriarchy. It promotes the idea that human worth depends on productivity, economic success, absolute emotional control, and the ability to work endlessly, turning vulnerability, rest, community, and tenderness into signs of weakness. Beneath its rhetoric of discipline and power often lies a profound inability to relate healthily to pain, fragility, and human interdependence.
“That’s the grindset, brother. While weak men sleep and complain, sigma males stay disciplined, work in silence, suppress emotions, and build power while everyone else wastes time chasing comfort.”
