shiny new toy

The new kid at school who gets all the attention because the kids all want to know what they're like and whether or not they'll be friends with him/her. Eventually, the "shiny new toy" factor wears off in about a week or two and the kid just becomes a normal student.
Kid #1: Hey, new kid! High five!
Kid #2: High five? Pshh, that's lame. Hey new kid, do I get a hug?
Kid #3: Me too! I want a hug first!
Kid #2: Back off, I saw the kid first!
Teacher: Kids, she is not a shiny new toy! Cut it out!
New kid: Umm...I think I'll just be going to homeroom now...

Shiny New Toy Syndrome

The feeling you get in a long term relationship when you develop a crush on someone else for a short period of time.
I love James and i'd never leave him, but i think i have a slight crush on Will! Ugh i must have shiny new toy syndrome, it'll pass in a week!

newtoyitis

When one recieves a new toy, and one is unable to part with it, or even share it's use.

Violating the new toy rule may cause Newtoyitis.
Charles has been sleeping with his new toy car for a week, he has newtoyitis.

When my cousin Sheryl comes over she always has a fit unless she gets my newest doll. She suffers from chronic Newtoyitis.

liquid lunch

A lunchbreak comprised entirely of alcoholic beverages, and no food.
"With all the lay-offs that morning, it was rough. I hit the bar around the corner for a liquid lunch mid-day."

Someone or something that bites your ankles.
To a postman, an ankle biter is often known as a dog.
To an adult, an ankle biter may be a toddler.
To hikers, an ankle biter is sometimes a tick.
And so on.
