coffee hop

To spend a large portion of the day downtown, or in another area abundant in coffee shops, visiting as many coffee shops as possible. When coffee hopping, one buys a small coffee/pastry, spends some time in a coffee house, then moves on to another coffee shop to pass the time. (Can also be defined as attempting to sit for as long as possible in a coffee shop without purchasing anything, then moving onto another place when the barista is on to you.)

Tom: You were downtown for 16 hours? What'd you do the whole time?
Jerry: Coffee hopped.

Tom: How many places did you go?
Jerry: Twelve.

when some one goes beyond using a laptop at the local coffee shop and sets up a small office replete with printers, scanners and other peripherals to mooch power and wifi.

Should be a limit on coffeeshop camping. A dude has set up not only 2 laptops, but a full-sized laser printer, scanner and piano keyboard!! credit @feliciaday

There's this tiny java place I go to all the time to work, read, or just chill out. I like it 'cause it's so coffeeshopesque, you know? Real coffee smell, old leather couches, open mic night on Thursdays... nothing like the machine-generated Starbuckses on every street corner.

One who is so addicted to coffee to the point of being oblivious to the world at large until the first dose is gone.

I was standing in the kitchen making my morning Americano with cream and did not notice that the house painters were standing at the window looking directly at me hoping to get my attention. Coffeeholic that I am, I didn't even know the painters were at the house, much less looking right at me. My husband came back from his morning run and asked me why I ignored the painters.
