cimêncio

Portuguese noun (maculin), quality. English version: "cemence".

From the Latin "cementu" by agglutination with the Latin "silentiu"; therefore, in Portuguese, "cimento" + "silêncio". In English, "cement" + "silence".

The deep sleep of the suburbs. Imaginary construction; the raw material of spirit. A calcareous state that indicates a conjecture of tranquillity. A mixture of quicklime and mystery, impervious to time. Intimate union; fundamental pause. Suspension of base or foundation.

The word and definition was created by Portuguese writer and thinker Luís Gouveia Monteiro (b. 1975), and entered the Portuguese lexicon as the title and concept of the book "Cimêncio" (Fenda Publishers, 2003), with texts by architect Diogo Seixas Lopes (1972-2016) and images by artist Nuno Cera (b. 1972).
