Sasscore

A hardcore punk genre that emerged out of Post-Hardcore in the late 1990s and early 2000s alongside the growing Screamo scene, seen as a reaction to the perceived machismo in hardcore at the time. The style took heavy influence from numerous sources outside hardcore, such as Dance-Punk, New Wave, and even Disco, and fused them with influences from inside the scene like screamo, Grindcore, and Metalcore. The resulting sound of sass is characterized by its flamboyant stylings, particularly the lispy, sassy vocal style which lends the genre its name, and a manic and tumultuous atmosphere incorporating angular and chaotic guitar parts, danceable rhythms, synthesizers, and sometimes blast beats. In conjunction, there is a significant lyrical focus on vulgar and sexual imagery, with a noted homoerotic bent.
The Blood Brothers is a sasscore band.
