2. When you wear rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags.

The guy/girl had always worn rose colored glasses, and didn't see that he/she was as much of a hypocrite as everybody else, or that not everybody had to think the way he/she thought about the world, or life.

Jim Jones seemed like a wonderful humanitarian looking to spread hope and egalitarian values like wildfire to the world when viewed through rose colored glasses, since you could ignore any of the things about someone that you didn't want to see, and deny any negative feelings you had about him the same way he would deny any negative feelings he had about anybody else. A guy that kills over 900 people is not without negative feelings, and is not a boundless optimist if you look at the whole person, and not just the positive things that look/sound nice. A guy like that seems like the real cynic, even if he's not outwardly a negative grouch.

If you always have on rose colored glasses, the other person isn't going to know what you really think about something, because it always sounds positive, and nobody always has positive thoughts in their head.

Man 1: Dude, I'm reading this novel online called Through Rose Colored Glasses. I can edit it too!
Man 2: Wait...
Man 2: So basically, you're editing someone else's writing for free?
Man 1: Yeah, dude - it's totally web 2.0!
Man 2: Why am I hanging out with you again?
Man 1: I locked you in my basement, remember? Now let's play dress-up.
