Roligan (maj.; Roligans) is a nickname used to describe
danish sports fans, in various sports, however most commonly- and originating from
football.
It is often used as a joke antonym to the english football supporters; "Hooligans", because the
danish fans are extremely calm and nice, whereas the english hooligans often shine lasers in the eyes of their opponents.
The description was first popularized in the 1980s, and was a sort of movement to spread a message to the world, that
football should be about having fun, cozyness, being calm and well-mannered. Indeed "hygge", often frowning upon the aforementioned crazy, unsportsmanlike behavior of hooligans
The word itself derives from the danish word, "rolig" which translates into "calm". Then pulled together by the last
