1. A phrase describing a prominent scene during the early 90's. It was made up of mostly women. "Riot grrl" music dealt with issues such as feminism, rape, abortion, sexuality, etc., and some girls published 'zines. However, today it has been incorrectly used by Good Charlotte fangirls to describe female fans of the band, due to a song they wrote called "Riot Girl" describing their dream girl.
2. A girl or woman involved in the movement.
Also spelled "riot grrl" or "riot grrrl".

Kathleen Hanna was one of the godmothers of the "riot girl" movement.
Most Good Charlotte fans calling themselves "riot girls" don't know what it actually is.

Good Charlotte is the epitimy of poster rock. RIOT GIRL is a term coined by the early punks of 77 who were not loved by anyone, there music was raw UN PROCESSED, and not tainted by money, middle class suburbia, or hot topic.
