The unofficial title conferred by millions of mainland Chinese netizens on Dictator Vladimir Putin for waging a war against the US and its allies via Ukraine, which are afraid of China’s economic and military rise and the world order (or disorder) it would create—Chinese jingoists view him as “the greatest strategist” of the 21st century, who would help deliver resources-rich developing nations from American hegemony and hypocrisy.

Pro-Russia, pro-Putin, and pro-war Chinese online users, particularly the so-called “little pinks,” see President Putin as a demigod or political savior—it’s no surprise that these diehard pro-Xi fans call him “Putin the Great.”
