Used in same context as 'Put a lid on it'

Girl on period; 'Oohhhh, I broke another nail. I just want to kill myself!

Annoyed guy; 'Put a tampon in it, woman!'

When someone is getting mad at something stupid or anything at all.

(Guy) You Idiot! There's no gas in the car, now I have to stop by at the gas station tomorrow morning.

(Guy 2) Put a tampon on and stop the bleeding.
