Project Semicolon

Project Semicolon is a movement started in order to raise awareness as well as support those who suffer from depression, anxiety, suicidal tendencies, or other mental illnesses by using a semicolon to signify that the person suffering from these disorders could have ended their life, but chose not to.

Amy Bleuel founded Project semicolon with this goal in mind: “Project Semicolon is a global faith-based non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction, and self injury. Project Semicolon exists to encourage. Love and inspire.”

April 16th is the day that is most widely known for someone to show there support for either loved ones they know are suffering, or for those who live with these illnesses every day. The process is simple, just draw a little semicolon on your wrist. More and more, tattoos have been becoming a rising expression for people suffering.
On April 16th, my uncle drew a semicolon on his wrist for Project Semicolon

My sister has been dealing with her depression a lot better since she has found out about Project Semicolon.

Fogey/fogy /fougi/ sl. (early 18C+, orig. Scot) old-fashioned, stuck-in-the mud.
Person with old fashioned ideas which he is unwilling to change: Come to the disco and stop being such an old fogey!
You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
